The Female Farmer Project

documenting the rise of women in agriculture

photo essay: growing things in late winter

This short series of vignettes documents a season with Growing Things Farm and Michaele - a revered farmer in the Snoqualmie Valley. She has mentored and inspired countless farmers along the way. This vignette is late winter - the fields are still muddy but green is starting to peek from the soil in the greenhouse. A new flock of birds for her pastured poultry have arrived and the hens are starting to lay again. We visit the small goat herd that will help provide the milk for her hand crafted soaps. Join us as we document the farm as it progresses from winter to the harvest season.
